Ideas and Tips for a Wonderful Christmas Wedding

It’s deemed the "Most Wonderful Time of the Year!" Festivities and gaiety of the Christmas holidays can certainly make it the most Romantic time of the ear. If you love Christmas planning a holiday wedding can be fun, especially once you realize what wonderful options you have to make your wedding come together in the most beautiful ways…there isn’t a Christmas decoration that you can’t make outstanding wedding decorations of. Enjoy these ideas and tips to have a wedding with all the trimmings! Don’t forget that a winter wedding is off season. You may find prices lower and vendors who will negotiate a wonderland of wedding discounts!

  • Wedding Invitations that look like Christmas cards! Even if your invitations go out in October, they will be a nice surprise to your guests and a way to bring about the holiday joy.
  • Red and green are natural colors for Christmas, but don’t feel limited to this pallet. Try silver and white, silver and light blue, jewel tones, or gold and cream.
  • Line your aisle with pre-lit Christmas trees.
  • Line your aisle or alter with potted Pointsettia plants.
  • Use a Christmas tree to put gifts under rather than the traditional “gift table”.
  • Have each layer of your wedding cake look like an individually wrapped package.
  • Consider having a faux-fur shrug for yourself or the bridesmaids or embrace the color in your wedding dress by adding a beautiful red sash around your waist.
  • Create a centerpiece of bowls or vases filled with glass ornaments.
  • Use fake snow as an aisle runner instead of flowers.
  • Decorate Christmas Trees in your colors at your reception.
  • Incorporate Holiday Music into your reception
  • Give your guests Christmas ornament wedding favors or small boxes filled with a treat and wrapped like a present.

  • Decorate with pillar candles and ivy, berries, and pine cones for a winter wonderland.
  • Instead of a rose petal toss, have fake snow tossed into the air.
  • For a large group of Children have Santa make a visit.
  • Load a farewell station with hot coco and cider and an array of Christmas cookies, such as gingerbread men.
  • Donate your leftover food to a shelter as a holiday service.

Plan and shop ahead! If you plan a year in advance, you can purchase most of your holiday decor at "After-Christmas" sales for substantial savings, usually 50% or more!
